It is also important to remember here that clearing of a cheque also depends on the type of cheque, such as Bearer cheque gets cleared immediately at the bank counter, apart from this, Account Payee cheque is cleared.   1. Same Branch Clearing

When a cheque of the same bank branch is deposited in another account of the same bank branch, it comes under Same Branch Clearing processing, which gets cleared within just 24 hours.

  1. Local Clearing

If the bank branch issuing the cheque and the bank branch in which the cheque is deposited are both in the same city, then it comes under local clearing. This type of clearing takes 02 to 03 days, because bank branches vary, and they send the cheque to the clearing house of RBI for clearing.

  1. Outstation Clearing

When both the issuing and depositing banks of the cheque are from different cities then this cheque comes under outstation processing. This type of cheque is sent to the clearing house of another city, from where it takes 05 to 07 days for the cheque to be cleared, or sometimes it can take up to 28 days.

  1. High Value Clearing

Cheques with amount of Rs 1 lakh or more are called high value. An SMS alert is usually sent to the cheque issuer before High Value Clearing (HVC). But if the amount is very large, it is also informed by phone, after which such cheques are cleared after getting the consent, in this case it is cleared within about 24 to 72 hours.
